About UsSponsored by the Front Climbing Club and affiliated with the American Alpine Club, Color the Wasatch is focused on building a community for climbers of color in Salt Lake City and along the Wasatch Front. Our goals are to empower POC climbers, highlight the achievements of such climbers, and to make climbing a more diverse and inclusive sport. We work closely with local gyms and outdoor brands including the Front, the Salt Lake Bouldering Project, Black Diamond, and Gnarly Nutrition.
We hold regular events and climbing nights. We also run joint climbing nights with SLAQC (Salt Lake Area Queer Climbers). For more information about our events, please see our Instagram and Facebook pages (linked below). CTW is a registered non-profit. Click here to donate. Donations are used for guest passes for climb nights, gear for members, and supplies for our events. |

Our History
|
This group was founded in July of 2020 by Priyam Patel and Matt Burbach in the midst of the racial reckoning surrounding the murder of George Floyd. Since then our community has grown drastically, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
To hear more about our story and mission, check out these articles by Melanin Basecamp and the American Alpine Club. We have also been featured Season 4 of "This is Utah" by PBS Utah. |
